We on the OmniPod Team are dedicated to helping make diabetes a smaller part of everyday life. It’s an ambitious undertaking, but all journeys begin with a single step and Suite D is another step toward that goal.
I was first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1980. It was the dark ages in many ways for diabetes care. It was before home blood glucose monitoring systems, insulin pumps, CGM and fast-acting insulin analogs existed. All these products have offered life-changing benefits to those of us living with diabetes.
Aside from advances in treatments and technology, the diabetes community also thrives on sources of inspiration and education. Our hope is that Suite D will serve as a place of encouragement and community for those of us with diabetes, as well as for our family and friends. Inside Suite D, we’ll focus on managing diabetes in ways that leave more room to enjoy the rest of what you love in life.
That too, is a tall order; but as with all challenges, it’s easier with support from your friends. We’re proud that Suite D will feature the voices of individuals with a wide variety of perspectives – ranging from elite athletes who refuse to let diabetes slow them down, to parents who know the particular worries of caring for a child with diabetes, to someone just like you.
These guest bloggers will share with you how they’re living their lives to the fullest every day – and they’ll certainly provide some inspiration and humor sprinkled in with the tips for how they do it. Author Norman Vincent Peale wrote, “Change your thoughts and you change your world.” We hope the stories shared inside Suite D will spark a sense of freedom in you to shape your world with diabetes.
Best wishes on your journey,
Sean M. Gallagher
